Pixel Adventure Love Letter: Animated 8 Bit Story Quest Game, Custom Pixel Art Couple

An 8 bit love letter and pixel art couple adventure: they play your story as a little video game, then a real letter drops out of it. A private link, no physical console.

It is game night on the sofa: a walnut coffee table, two glass soda bottles, a bowl of chips and a cream handheld console of our own design, with their name above it.

They slide the power switch, the screen wakes up with OUR STORY QUEST and PRESS START, and the game grows to fill the whole screen. Two little pixel characters walk around in it: one looks like them, one looks like you.

LEVEL 1, WHERE WE MET. A small pixel town. With the big D-pad they walk their character from home to the place you met (a cafe, a campus, an office, a park or an online chat), past people and a bicycle that nudge them back softly ("OOPS!", nobody gets hurt). Your character is waiting there, and a pixel dialog box shows the first thing you said, like "Hi. Is this seat taken?"

LEVEL 2, OUR MEMORIES. Four little places, each named after one of your memories on a wooden sign over its garden gate: a lake with a pier, a flower garden, a park, a square with lanterns. In each one waits a heart. When they pick it up, a real paper note slides over the game and a fountain pen writes that memory's short line, like "You forgot the tickets. I fell for you anyway." MEMORY 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4.

LEVEL 3, THE BOSS. A small grumpy gray cloud with the name you choose, like The Distance or Mondays. The only way past it is a hug: they press HUG three times, it shrinks, turns pink and becomes a heart. A chest appears.

THE LETTER. Inside the chest is a pixel envelope. It flies out of the screen and drops onto the real coffee table beside the console. They lift the flap, pull the letter out, and your words are written onto cream paper in ink, line by line.

THE ENDING. Back in the game at sunset, the two characters stand together: "PLAYER 2 HAS JOINED!", then "CONTINUE TOGETHER? YES / YES". Either answer leads to the same place. They walk on together through the credits: your names, the date, "HIGH SCORE: US" and your last line. Then the console is set back on the table, its screen showing the two of them and "THE END?".

How it unfolds

1. Switch on the console and press start
2. Level 1: walk to the place you met and read your first words
3. Level 2: collect 4 memory hearts while a real pen writes each memory
4. Level 3: hug the joke boss until it turns into a heart
5. The envelope drops onto the table and your letter is written in ink
6. Player 2 has joined, Continue together? YES / YES, the credits and THE END?

A slow, warm, original chiptune melody plays with soft reverb, never toy-like, together with the sounds of the console switch, the buttons, paper and pen (it can be muted with one tap).

What we personalize

• Their name above the console, in the game and on the letter
• Two pixel characters that look like you both: hair color and style, skin tone, outfit color, glasses and beard, chosen from our set (no photos needed)
• Where you met (cafe, campus, office, park or online) and the first thing you said
• 4 memories: a title for each sign and a short line the pen writes
• The boss name, like The Distance, Mondays or Exam Week
• Your letter, as long or as short as you like, with your signature, the date and a P.S.
• The credits: your names, the date and your last line

How it works

1. Place your order. In the personalization box, write their name and your name.
2. After ordering, send us in Etsy messages your letter, where you met and your first words, 4 memories with a short line for each, and a few words about how you both look (hair, skin tone, favorite outfit color, glasses, beard).
3. Within 24 to 48 hours of receiving your details, we send you a private link here in Etsy messages.
4. Share the link with them by text, WhatsApp or email, or open it together.

If anything should change, just reply and we will fix it.

Good to know

• This is a digital animated letter, played in the browser. There is no physical console, no cartridge and no print. Nothing is shipped.
• The console, the pixel world and the characters are our own design, drawn for the screen. It is not an official version of any video game or console.
• The characters are built from our pixel set: hair colors and styles, skin tones, outfit colors, glasses and beard. You do not need to send photos.
• On a phone they walk with the big D-pad on screen. On a computer the arrow keys work too, and the Enter key walks for them. The short levels take a few minutes, and nobody can lose.
• Names and game text appear in our pixel letters, in capitals. Accented letters like É, Ñ, Ç or Ş work too. Your letter is written in a regular ink hand.
• The names, memories and letter in the listing images are a demo. Yours will show your own story.
• Sound starts after the first tap, as phones require.
• Because every letter is made for one person, we cannot accept returns, but we will gladly fix any detail until it is right.
• Cancellations are possible within 12 hours of ordering.
